Joris Vanvinckenroye is double bass player, composer and artistic director of Clustermusic, a collective of Global Music composers and musicians. He started his career together with his brothers in the 90s with the folk/pop/rock formation Troissoeur. They played concerts and produced music for more than for 13-years. In 2020, after a 13-year break, the group restarted. In 2002, Joris founded the acoustic, instrumental avant-folk group Aranis. Aranis quickly grew into a chamber rock music group that was awarded with the national ‘Jeugd en Muziek’ Prize for Chamber Music and the Klara Tandem Trophy in 2007. Aranis released 7 full albums between 2005 and 2017 that earned them several nominations. The group played many concerts in Europe, but also played international concerts in Japan and the US. In 2019 Aranis played their last concert. In 2007, Joris started a solo project under the name BASta! (double bass in combination with live electronics and loopstation). With BASta! he recorded two full albums so far. Furthermore, Joris collaborates(ed) on numerous music productions, recordings and multidisciplinary productions, including the successful production 'Ongekende Evidenties' by compagnie Rode Boom, the group MOTYK (before they called Flairck), Adana by Muziekpublique, several productions by Wouter Vandenabeele (Olla Vogala, Chansons pour la fin d'un jour,...), Retina dance company (the productions Antipode, Layers of skin, If A then C) and many more.
